About Namebench

Namebench is a small independent site of name generators for small businesses and makers. Each generator has its own word lists, written by hand for one trade: the words for a bakery name are not the words for a cleaning company name.

Every name is built from a visible recipe, a pattern such as a describing word plus a trade word, and the recipe is shown next to the name. The same seed always gives the same names, in the page you get from the server and in your browser.

The generators give ideas, not clearance. They cannot tell you whether a name is already used, registered or trademarked where you live: check that yourself before you print anything.

There are no invented authors, reviews or ratings on this site. If something on a page is wrong, tell us and it is fixed.
